2: Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide

An in-depth exploration of the art of shell scripting.

It contains 364 profusely commented illustrative examples, a number of tables, and a cross-linked index/glossary. Not just a shell scripting tutorial, this book also provides an introduction to basic programming techniques, such as sorting and recursion. It is well suited for either individual study or classroom use. It covers Bash, up to and including version 4.0.

Install Duck Launcher in Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty/13.10 Saucy/12.04 Precise/Linux Mint 16/13/other Ubuntu derivatives

Duck Launcher is a Unity like dock and application launcher made for Linux. It is written using Python and Qt languages, it's goal is to increase productivity and be good looking. It allows user to access favorite apps easily on the dock, or all application can be accessed by clicking on the top icon of launcher. File System can be browsed easily with this dock without opening any file manager, this feature is still in development, so keep in mind that anytime problem can occur with this feature.
"Star" is kind of an extension of the file browser and the app launcher: you can choose any application, file or folder and add it. But these can be separated in blocks. Let's say you're a graphic artist, then you'll add a block named "Graphics" and add a few apps, like blender and gimp, and a folder where you store your files, and perhaps a file your working on right know.
Customization of this launcher is quite easy; you can change color, transparency, canvas width and so on.

This arrives after several "false" releases; yet the release announcement largely concentrates on further bugs and known issues: "The full final has been released. Known bugs: selecting auto login in the installer does not work - I had to disable it so the live session would auto login; Apturl is broken, this is an issue with Ubuntu; to make the distro work with GNOME 3.12 I had to add restore extensions to start-ups - this forces the extensions to start; if you use symbols in your password make sure you pick the correct keyboard; in Firefox some of the add-ons are disabled, just run add-on update to enable them."

DeLorean-Dark is a highly polished glass and metal theme showcased within dramatic contrasts and is for those who like dark themes, for Ubuntu 14.04 it has themes for GTK and Xfce but for previous Ubuntu versions it offers Gnome Shell version also. Gnome Shell theme is dropped for latest versions because every new Gnome release breaks the theme, so developer of this theme discontinued Gnome Shell version but it support latest GTK in Gnome also. In this PPA this theme is available for GTK 3.10/3.8/3.6/3.4. I tested this theme with Gtk 3.10/3.8/3.6/3.4, Gnome Shell 3.8/3.6 and Xfce, there is also a theme for openbox included in the pack. As you may know that Ubuntu software center has text issue with dark themes, this pack also offers theme for software center. There can be bugs in the theme since it is in active development you can report bug/problem to the developer via source link.

Dorian is dark elegant theme and has many of its own unique characteristics. To name a couple, hovered buttons grow in size, and insensitive buttons/widgets have a diagonal pattern distinguishing them from normal or active states. Dorian's appearance is consistent between Gtk2 and Gtk3. This theme has two metacity themes for left and right buttons, one OpenBox theme, and one chromium/chrome theme. This theme wasn't released for GTK 3.8, so there is'nt GTK 3.8 version available and now I added GTK 3.10 version for 13.10 Saucy, hopefully it will work fine but there could be some bugs for 13.10 saucy. As you may know that Ubuntu software center has text issue with dark themes, this pack also offers theme for software center. Conky is a free, light-weight system monitor for X, that displays any information on your desktop. Conky is licensed under the GPL and runs on Linux and BSD. Conky can display this info either as text, or using simple progress bars and graph widgets, with different fonts and colours. Conky is able to monitor many system variables including CPU, memory, swap, disk space, temperature, top, upload, download, system messages, and much more. It is extremely configurable, however, the configuration can be a little hard to understand. Conky is a fork of torsmo.
You can check previously shared conky versions for Linux desktop. This conky offers 15 different flavors with 4 modes (comfortable, compact, mini, and other). I made installation easy as much as I could for everybody, installation script will setup everything but you just need to choose some options (interactively) from setup, I hope no one will get any problem with it. It can work for all Linux desktops environments like (Gnome Shell, Unity, Cinnamon, Gnome Classic, XFCE, Mate, and others). This conky shows Weather, Date/Time, System uptime, CPU/Memory, HDD info (Root, Home, Swap), Processes, and Realtime HDD usage graphs, Internet upload/download speed with numbers and graphs, and top real time processes but not all modes display complete info (for instance mini mode display just necessary information). I dropped PPA support for conky because many user report problems, so as usual I picked up only wget script installation method because it can work with most of the Linux distributions without any problem and interactive automatic setup makes stuff easy.

TrueCrypt eBook Guide: Protect (Encrypt) Your Data Using TrueCrypt

Lockdown: Secure Your Data With True Crypt

Encryption is the process of protecting data by using an algorithm to scramble it.
This manual will be talking about local file encryption - that is, encrypting files on a hard drive (or encrypting the entire hard drive; more on that later). The files are safe as long as they are kept in the encrypted area. TrueCrypt is a free, cross-platform program (meaning that it works in Windows, Mac OS X and Linux distributions including Ubuntu) that you can use to encrypt your data. It is classified as "On The Fly Encryption" (OTFE) software, which basically means that it encrypts and decrypts files as you access and modify them and that all files within the area of encryption are available as soon as you enter the key.
You can install TrueCrypt from here or download from official site.
